We start with a face of someone that we wish to turn him into the Joker, I used a photo of Heath Ledger ☺ Smiling would have been great but we can even make him smile with photoshop.

("Why so serious? Lets make a smile on that face!" The Joker) Of Course! So the first thing we should do is make him smile, with the liquify tool (Tool >> Liquify) , I played with his mouth and came up with something like this.

Now after that, we try to make his skin white, to do this first we play with the layer options of the layer. (Image >> Adjustments >> Levels) Adding some brightness and adjust the contrast will help too. (Images >> Adjustments >> Brightness and Contrast)

To get the white look, first make a new layer and set it ‘s layer blend to saturation and paint wait over his face. Do not paint on the eyes and mouth.

IF the face is not bright enough like what happened to me, duplicate that white layer and set its blend mode to Overlay and adjust the opacity to you rneeds, I used 40% opacity. Now Create a new layer and paint yellow over the hair and change its blending mode to Soft light and change its opacity accordingly I changed it to 15%.

Lets add the black shades to the eyes. First create a new layer, paint black around the eyes and smudge the black with the smudge tool which can be found in the tools window. I changed the opacity to 70% to lighten down the black a bit. Till now you should have something like this.
Now we are going to enhance the black, to do this first create a new layer on top, then paint in some black just above the black top edges.

How lets work on the red smile, First I painted the reddish colour to his face and turned the layer to soft light blending mode.
Duplicate the layer, and smudge it more then the first, to give the messy impression and give it a 60% and again use the soft light blending mode.
Finally choose a darker red and add some details in the middle for that scar of his and bumpy smile….

And they you go…your very own Joker from Batman! Here is the PSD if you didn’t understand something or just want to rip the artwork.
